*A global message for clients around the world who believe that a designer is a mere tool to execute their ugly ideas.
Came across this in my daily inspiration searches. It seems like such a harsh statement, but in many instances it is very true. I am one that is completely open to suggestions or direction from clients and sometimes that works out fantastically when someone knows exactly what they would like and you can execute that for them with your own twist on the solution. But, when there is no give to their take … that doesn’t work. When you come to a designer with a project, you are paying or working with them to design “de·sign [dih-zahyn] -verb: to plan and fashion the form and structure of an object, work of art, decorative scheme, etc.” … not recreate.
Let the designer know what sort of things you are interested in or would like to see and let them do their job. Chances are the end solution will be better than what you had envisioned if you simply give the designer the freedom to do what they do best.
