A little about me and the site.

a little about me

Third person isn't really my style and I am not a writing professional by any stretch of the imagination, so here we go.

I have a strong background in the fine arts: painting, drawing, sculpture, which began at an early age. As a kid I always enjoyed drawing, coloring and creating art. That passion continued into my adulthood where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design from Eastern Illinois University. I currently have 4+ years experience as a graphic design professional.

My strength as a graphic designer is in print & digital design where I work with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign on a daily basis, developing proficient skills in the Adobe design software. I am responsible for projects from conception to completion. This responsibility has allowed me to work with a number of vendors to achieve the best possible product for each print project I work on.

When I am not at the office, I really enjoy spending time with my family. I have two sons that keep me very busy and quite entertained. While at EIU, I found that I had a strong interest in 3D media: sculpture & metalsmithing. That interest has trickled over into a good portion of my non-graphic design artwork creating custom designer toys.

From October through January I am an active hunter. Hunting is one of the very few things that will get me out of bed early on the weekends and has become a true passion of mine in addition to my art and family.

about the site

droppixel.com was originally created as a personal web project that allowed me to learn CSS & HTML, with the help of online tutorials and a friend. Since it's original creation, it has continued to be a personal web project and location to showcase my portfolio as well as an online "playground" for me to share thoughts, inspiration and other artwork through my notepad blog. This version of the site was created with a custom grid system, sketches on paper, layouts in Photoshop, coded in Coda and powered by Wordpress.
