A New History

… this book is predicated on the idea that graphic design and typography are the most communal of art forms …

For my first post of 2012 I want to share a book that I truly admire. As noted through my history/about/info, I am an EIU grad. While at Eastern, I had the privilege of taking Art History courses with Stephen Eskilson. Professor Eskilson brought a new approach to his courses and made them not so mundane for the students and especially those that didn’t care to be there due to the nature of other art history courses. His classes were engaging, very easy to follow and learn from.

I was fortunate enough to finally receive his book as a gift. This is the text book he had been writing while I was attending Eastern and it is now the book that he uses for his History of Graphic Design course. The course itself was great and it brought a lot of new insight and inspiration for myself. Graphic Design: A New History is a book that I would highly recommend all students and professionals of Graphic Design to consider owning yourself.
